Believing Again in New Year's Resolutions

January 12, 2018

I admit that for years, I belong to the population who fails to make new year's resolution work that's why I don't make a list anymore. I felt that I was just fooling myself if I do. I just practice mindfulness, living by the day and doing what is necessary at the moment without losing hope and optimism, believing that I can get my goals one step at a time.

I believe again in new year's resolutions.
Not until I have proven that getting fit is possible, I have decided to make a list for 2018.

I always see myself in front of the mirror that's why I can't gauge the huge transformation on my physique. One of my best friends that I didn't see for a long time told me that she hardly recognized me until she saw me walk. . What I am sure of is that I feel lighter and healthier right now compared three months ago. I lost 11 kilos after two months. Now I am enjoying the normal Body Mas Index for my height. . I'm also not used to taking selfies. To see the difference, I just use these photos taken during Blogapalooza 2016, while having my short talk about Bunso in his school on June 2016, and after my book hunting in Scholastic Warehouse Sale last summer. Kayo na po ang humusga. . For those who are asking, "Ano ang ginawa mo para pumayat ka?" I've written them in @psstphofficial and here are the links. Sana po ay makatulong sa inyo. . Honestly, I am not that strict in following my previous diet but I refrain from eating the food items that are prohibited. I also cut down my exercise time due to my very busy schedule but I never let the day pass without stretching and exercising even for just 5-10 minutes. Dream ko na magkaroon ng magandang abs at mas toned na arm muscles. Uumpisahan ko na 'yan sa sem break. Hihi. . I was once a woman who accepted the fact that being fat was okay. Being married and having kids became the lame excuse for me. But sickness made me realize that I must do something about it and it was possible to bring back my body healthy inside and out.

1. I will religiously plan on a weekly basis to balance my personal, family, biz, and writing life. Unlike before that I was so stubborn that I wanted to do so many things a day that I ended up wasted, I would make sure that my plan should be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Reliable, Timely). My mom is not getting any younger while my boys are growing up hastily. Paps and I are getting old. Spending more time with them by doing simple pleasures is enough to show how much we care for one another.

2. I will set more dating days with Kuya. He turned 13 just recently. We need to catch up and also, it is a must that he should know me as a person and allow me to teach him life lessons, instill good values and things that he needs to know about teenage life like how to be street smart and practicing and prioritizing what truly matters.

3. I will prepare more challenging activities for Bunso. I know that he is coping up well with his condition with validation of his teachers, of course, but there are habits that need to be addressed and skills that have to be enhanced or introduced.

This photo was taken on April 2017 in UST. This little boy enthusiastically accompanied me in doing my #mompreneur duties. He didn't complain and whine. He was very happy. 😍 . He is more responsible, helpful, receptive, reasonable, and manageable compared before. Undergoing intensive occupational therapy and special education pays off every single day. There are still more to improve and work on but we know that he can. We will not stop believing. We will continuously accept and love him for who he is. Like us, his teachers have faith in him and he feels it. 😍 . BUNSO HAS MILD AUTISM AND IT'S OKAY. http://www.allaroundpinaymama.com/2015/05/bunso-has-mild-autism-and-its-okay.html . 4. I will spend more time with Paps even though we have tight schedules. Due to our family mechanics, we don't have a helper or nanny to look after the kids plus the fact that we have a child with mild autism, Paps and I don't have the luxury of time going out on dates. Both of us enjoy simple pleasures. Having more late night conversations or spontaneous activities that add more spark on our marriage while the kids are asleep are some of the best dating time choices that would work for us.

5. I will keep in touch with friends often. Finding time to catch up online or offline with my friends this year is one of the things that I want to push. Seriously, I have to make a schedule to accommodate everyone. I don't want to miss greeting them on their birthdays or being with them physically or spiritually on their happy and sad times. I just want them to feel that even though that most often I just remember or include them in my thoughts and prayers, it is best that they feel my presence. Life is short, I have to make the best out of it by always telling my friends and loved ones how I feel.

Being focused, mindful, and finding time to do what is necessary make any new year's resolution attainable. No more, no less.
