Get Ready to Glow and Be Inspiring!--- Working Mom Magazine December 2013/January 2014

My mom received copies of Working Mom Magazine November 2013 and December 2013/January 2014 last December 22. I was out of town with my husband and kids and just returned home during the 2nd week of January. It took me a week after to write my review about the latest issue because my kids were hospitalized. I apologize for posting this late. Then I'm currently summarizing my throwback articles for October and November issues and hopefully I'll be able to share them with you very, very soon!

If you grabbed your own copy of WM December 2013/January 2014 issue, you're so lucky! It was a great buy and a must-read because lots of new tips about beauty, health, parenting, investing, and other interesting topics were squeezed in this page-turner. Topics about the holidays were included too that might also be useful for other occasions and would make stressful events easy to handle as well. And who couldn't resist grabbing one? The sensational and heartthrobs Teng brothers together with their beautiful mom graced its cover.

This issue arrived at the right time. I was so stressed! I had to catch up with the demands of my home-based business and my kids were sick. Hagardo Versoza talaga ang peg ng lola n'yo!

I had a great learning experience reading this magazine at nakaaalis talaga ng stress. Let me share with you what's inside in a nutshell.

Secrets---Do Everything Better (p. 14) talks about being ready for everything---everything you need for the party season and beyond. Suggestions about the beauty products we need to make us feel good and look our best for the party season (p. 16), when our skin and spirits are suffering from party hang-over (p. 18), and to look polished and put together in just minutes (p. 20) are discussed in a detailed and visual manner that makes me want all those cosmetics to be included in my make-up collection! Ever Bilena's tutorial on how to choose the right palette helps us achieve our prettiest without spending so much on separate beauty products.

Skin Rescue (p. 24) has simple and common skin Rx that we don't know or usually take for granted. Dermclinic President, Dr. Simon Pineda, has easy solutions to dark eye circles and eye bags; dull and dehydrated skin; acne breakouts; puffy face; dull, wrinkled skin due to stress; lack of sleep and other factors. This article is actually my favorite.

Investing in and wearing the right clothes and accessories can make us look perfect in all occasions (pp. 28, 30, 32, and 34) aside from applying the right make-up. Choosing good cuts that never go out of style, spending in good fit, and having the essentials are the keys to help us spend less but get the look that is right for us.

As I mentioned in my previous articles, looking pretty must  come from within. Sometimes we have no choice but to grab anything for a snack just to fill our empty stomachs especially when we are too busy. It's not an excuse! Grab-and-Go Power Meals (p. 38) teaches us four ways to make our own snack healthy and nutritious in no time!

Five exceptional women inspire us to look for possibilities, reject mediocrity, experiment in taking risks, accept change, and have fun in the journey of reaching our dreams and aspirations through our creative genius. Believe that we can do it amidst the trials and problems. After all, these experiences can make us stronger, wiser, fulfilled, and happier (p. 72).

Spending for ourselves as a reward for our hard work is okay but let us not forget to save for the rainy days and invest for our family's future. Our family is our top priority and there are many ways on how our money can work for us (p. 74). Let us also teach our kids the value of money and do more than just save by following the tips from entrepreneur, motivated speaker, and personal finance advocate, Fitz Villafuerte (p. 83).

It's the start of 2014 and most of us already wrote down our new year's resolution. For some, they tend to drop it because they believe that it can never be achieved. In my case, it can be done. Every end of the year, I check out my list and almost 85% was fulfilled. Marie Bernabe shares 7 Ways to Make  Your New Year's Resolution Happen (p. 15).

Getting our house in order in a more organized and efficient way can be the best way to start the year (p. 92). We can create a home that is functional yet spurs our imagination. Marie Antoinette Rosal, the woman behind bakery and confectionery, Sophie's Mom, inspires us to make our home a happy place. We can decorate our home even our furniture depending on our likes and passion (p.99).

It's never too easy to be hands-on moms but we can do all our responsibilities to our  family and to those we serve if we love what we do, if we're organized (p.118), and if we are rooted in good values like Mrs. Susan Teng and husband Alvin, which they share with their family (p. 53). Our home can be a sweet and best place to stay if we, moms, can withstand all the stressors we encounter in our job. We can surpass all the challenges BEAUTIFULLY and BLISSFULLY (p. 73), just believe. Remember, tayo ang "ILAW ng TAHANAN". We should teach our kids by example.

By the way, Catalogue 2013 by www.kidscompany.com.ph was an insert in this issue, where a wide array of nice toys to choose from at discounted prices were listed, perfect for gift-giving last holiday season.
