Cyberzone Made E-Waste Disposal Easy: 14,000+ kg Collected Through Strategic Drop-off Points

Let’s be honest. Most of us have old phones, broken chargers, or unused gadgets tucked away in drawers, simply because we don’t know where to properly dispose of them. The good news? Cyberzone has made responsible e-waste disposal simple, safe, and accessible right inside SM Supermalls.

Living up to its #TechWeLikeZoneWeLove promise, SM Cyberzone, in partnership with SM Cares, is helping turn proper e-waste disposal into an everyday habit. Since June 2024, dedicated E-Waste Collection Drop-off Points have been rolled out nationwide in collaboration with Smart Communications and PLDT Home, meeting people exactly where they already are at the mall.

Across participating SM Supermalls, these clearly marked collection bins give mallgoers a convenient place to drop off old gadgets and broken electronics that need proper handling. Instead of ending up in landfills or forgotten in storage these devices are now part of a system designed for safer disposal and better environmental care. It’s one small stop during your mall visit, but one that makes a big difference.

Since the program began, Cyberzone’s E-Waste Collection Drop Boxes have gathered 14,327 kilograms of electronic waste across 89 SM Supermalls, with 69 drop-off points located directly within Cyberzone areas.

These collection bins ensure that materials are properly collected, segregated, and sent for responsible processing showing how clear, accessible drop-off points can help build better habits across communities.

According to Patrick Pacla, Vice President for Cyberzone Operations and Marketing at SM Supermalls, Cyberzone takes pride in being the go-to tech destination for shoppers.
